Issue: February 06 |
Hello, Welcome to the February 2006 issue of In-House News. As always, I’d like to extend a very warm greeting to our new readers and of course a “welcome back” to our more frequent readers. In our main article this month we look at the recent banning of electric hot water systems in Qld with a number of other energy related issues and consider the impact on building prices. We also look at a new study which shows an increasing number of Australians choosing to buy an investment property over a principal place of residence (PPR) and explore that notion. In the research section we take a look at some of the mixed signals coming from the market place, and finally we meet Dave Alexander who is almost jumping out of his skin about his new found tax savings. The Sydney “Investment & Property Expo” is on again from 17th to 19th March. Once again Marco and Yolanda will be staffing an information stand to promote our ideas and services. We have a number of complimentary entrance tickets so if you’re thinking of going along – contact Marco or Yolanda for free tickets. The next newsletter (March issue) will focus on economics. Twice each year we spend a half day with Dr Frank Gelber, the chief economist with BIS Shrapnel (one of Australia's most highly regarded economic forecasters) to catch up with the latest statistics, and gaze into his crystal ball. So next month we'll update you with all the relevant economic data. And from that we’ll endeavour to draw some on-the-ground conclusions as to what it means and how we (as property investors) can benefit. As always, if you have any questions regarding this months articles or you just want clarification on something you read, please feel free to contact the team on (+61 7) 3369 0111. And most importantly, if you feel any of these articles may be of interest to friends or colleagues – feel free to forward the newsletter to them with our compliments.Best regards,
Colin Ferguson |

When Dave Alexander showed his pay slips to work mates they couldn’t believe it. In fact, Dave himself was struggling to come to terms with what he saw. “It just seemed like it couldn’t be right - one pay slip says I’m paying $875 in tax per pay and then the next fortnight I’m only paying $50 in tax” says Dave... >>more

February has been a very strange month for the Research Team at Investment House.
In previous months the market place has presented a mixed bag of goodies.
Certainly a lot of properties were overpriced, but there was also a good supply of sellers prepared to negotiate enough for workable deals to be had.
This month that has simply dried up...
